Traditional Irish Music Concert @ Corpus Christi Festival 2018, Sunday, June 3rd
May 26, 2018
Come out for the fun as local Irish musicians Tim Jenkins, Mark Hutchins, and Andreas Transo perform an "Irish House Party" at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore starting at 12 noon on Sunday, June 3.
Tim Jenkins needs little introduction for anyone who has attended a square dance anywhere in the Midwest in the past few decades. An accomplished and much-loved dance caller, Tim is also a traditional style Irish and Old Time fiddler and harmonica player. Be prepared to dance and to laugh! You never know when Tim will put down his instrument and start up a dance set!
Mark Hutchins hails from Dubuque but now lives in Evansville, Wisconsin, where he is an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. From voice to guitar to Irish flute and whistle, Mark shares his love for Irish music through dance tunes and songs. Mark is a member of Bí Dána, one of Madison's more celebrated Irish bands. Bí Dána is from the Irish Gaelic phrase "to be bold," and the group plays lively traditional music from all of the Celtic countries.
Another Bí Dána member is Boscobel-native Andreas Transo, who specializes in traditional Irish singing, spoons playing, the bodhrán (the Irish drum), Irish guitar, bouzouki, and tin whistles. While Andreas' father is an immigrant from Denmark and his great-grandparents are Castle Rock Bohemians, he has a strong connection to Irish music through his Rolling Ground St. Philip's Parrish Irish family. Having lived in England and Ireland himself for many years, Andreas brings unique songs and tunes directly from "the auld sod."
So bring your dance shoes and prepare to have a good time with lively dance music and charming songs from "The Shamrock Shore!" Erin Go Bragh!
