A Lent to Remember is a parish wide study of the newly released program FORGIVEN – The Transforming Power of Confession. With beautiful film-making and teaching on the Sacrament of Reconciliation, FORGIVEN will move your heart and give you plenty to discuss as a family or as a group of friends.
The reviews of FORGIVEN have been strong. Lisa Martin of St. Leo’s Parish in Ridgway, Pennsylvania writes: “I’m going to be late for work because I couldn’t stop watching session 3 of Forgiven. I thought the first episode was amazing but this one takes the cake! It not only touches on the head knowledge of confession but reaches the most important part, heart knowledge - knowing how much God loves us. Whoever was the cinematic genius who thought of the idea of having each priest recite part of the prayer of absolution I want you to know it brought me to tears. This is going to be an invaluable resource not only for our parishioners but also for those going through RCIA. Well done Augustine Institute. Well done!”
Joel in Rapid City, South Dakota adds: “I just watched this video and I am speechless yet I had to say something, so, ‘Wow!’ The best I have ever seen in 50 years of ministry. Non pious, just real, and awesomely personal.”
A Lent to Remember will be a 4-week study, with a 30-minute episode to watch each week. There are accompanying discussion guides that help penetrate the beauty and mystery of God’s mercy and the importance of regular confession. The final week of the study is capped with an episode from the stunning video series SYMBOLON. SYMBOLON Episode 6: The Paschal Mystery dives deep into the mystery of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the difference it makes in our day to day life as Catholics.
We will meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 PM beginning on March 8th (3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29). Those who cannot attend the Wednesday sessions can come on Sunday from 9 to 10:30 AM beginning on March 12th (3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2). We’ll have snacks on Wednesday and coffee and donuts on Sunday.
Both FORGIVEN and SYMBOLON can be accessed through formed.org. One of the fastest growing Catholic programs in over 2400 parishes in the country, FORMED is a Netflix-like VOD and digital content service for both seeker and believer that features the best audio, video, e-books and feature-length films from some of the world’s most credible Catholic sources, such as the Augustine Institute, Ignatius Press and Word on Fire ministries.
FORMED is available to all parishioners through a parish subscription. A five-digit code is given to each parish with a subscription. Parishioners simply input the parish code on the main page of formed.org to set up their free account.
No matter what you have done, no matter how long you have been away, Jesus is waiting for you in the Sacrament of Reconciliation! Make this Lent A Lent to Remember.
